k, i remember now it was his little sister's friend. it's been years since i've seen the movie. and the video for that song "stacy's mom" made me think it was his girlfriends mom.

"Moving In Stereo" by The Cars - movie was Fast Times At Ridgemont High - it wasn't girlfriend's mom, it was little sister's friend (played deliciously by Phoebe Cates)

I think you're thinking of "Fast Times at Ridgement High", but that was Phoebe Cates. She was the friend of Judge Reinhold's character's sister.
That song was The Cars' "Moving in Stereo".
