10w30
I cant believe all the 20w50 answers. This is a corvette not a race car. The piston clearance is not much more than any chevy motor. Oil as thick as 20w50 will actually make your engine work much harder decreasing the horsepower and It will run hotter because the oil is not going to flow as well. Do what you want but good luck with this.

You could ask the person you bought it from what they were using or any of the top brands will work. Also a tip to help keep the inside clean is during an oil change use 1 quart of tranny fluid then change after 500 miles and you will be amazed how dirty the oil will be.

Look up a company by the name of AMS OIL. It is a very good synthetic oil. Costs about the same as Mobil 1 but is of a very high quality. You wont be dissapointed. Pair the oil with a WIX filter and your car will be in heaven.

i read an article in hot rod magazine that said use rotela t in an older engine that doesn't have a roller cam like newer cars. Because for emissions they took out an additive in car oil but rotela is for heavy duty diesel engines as well as gas i put it in my s-10 witch has a 377 v8 with dart heads and it is fine. It has a soild lifter cam. if i had a roller cam i would use any good brand of 10w 40

20w-50 is absolutely not needed unless you are either racing...... and the engine sees extreme temps... or its burning more oil then gas....

5w-30/10w-30 in any high mileage will do (good additive pack, retained the zinc levels for the flat tappets, and is thicker for its grade) or a good old 5w-40 or 15w-40 diesel oil(in the summer time) will do..... as they have great additive packs.... and keep the engine cleaner (not clean, or clean, just cleaner)

Your best bet is Mobil 1.........it's used in Nascar and quite frankly in my opinion the best! Also, a 10-30/40 should work in most North American climates........

The best available. If the motor is old try 50w castro. or you can use 20-50w if it is newer.
