What else can you think about a fighter who goes down fighting albeit by a backstab(sorry the stingray stabbed him in front) You don't hold state funerals(Steve's wife has correctly taken the decision to have a private funeral) because even if the fighter has fallen the ffight has not ended. Our proper tribute to him to take on where he left. The zoo must go on. It is no more a private enterprise but a social legacy and if the family finds it eifficult the society must take it up. His twins are chips of the old bloc as Steve himself was of his fatherToo bad to learn that his father is still alive to see this happen.

My heart goes out to his wife, because she discovered a rare find that may never exist again in this lifetime. I feel sad for his child who will go on without him, but hopefully will live on in his honor at his own will.

What I think about what happened was a MAJOR tragedy!

A man with knowlege and an AWESOME sense of humor are a rare thing!

I think his zoo will go on with the support of all who love him and his vision. Maybe more people will educate themselves the way he did, and perfect even more what he already did perfectly. (So many levels of perfection,, there's never a final perfection level!)

I think the zoo will keep going as a tribute to him, and that what happened is awful.
I haven't heard anything about his wife and children, nor do I wish to. I think that they need time in private to grieve- they just lost a very much loved family member...
It made me cry when I heard that upon hearing of his death, my 5year old cousin said "Poor Bindi, she won't have her daddy to tuck her in at might time anymore"
I think that his family ought to be left alone to process what has happened.

I hate that he has died from a stingray of all things. I dont think the zoo will close because of its popularity. Havent heard anything about his wife and kids. They have to be going thru alot right now.. My heart goes out to them.

i will never forget the image of steve irwin talking to the camera while sharks were in a feeding frenzy all around him while he stood in the water...the guy was a crazy kook but he was fascinating, funny and very entertaining...i kind of felt one day his luck would run out the way he took risks dealing with wildlife but i would never have guessed it would take a stingray to be the culprit....my condolences to his friends and family....he was one of a kind and his legacy will continue as his shows run on animal planet

His wife decided to not have a state funeral and they wanted to air his death that was filmed but they're still thinking if they will at a later time.
