when I go into an email and I have a link to click on, the screen pops up all over the original screen. How can I make the link just come up in a small box, so I can still see the original email, but just quickly look at the link in a small box?? Then I can maximise it if I want to.

Hope that makes sense!!

Sorry if I sound dumb, but im a bit of a computer virgin.

thats not dumb
if your using xp all you have to do is resize the window before you close it than the next time you open it, it will open that same size. that goes for any window in xp
if you dont know how to resize a window here is how-move the mouse to the edge of the window, it will turn into a double arrow-left click and hold left click down-drag the window to the size you want-you can do it from the sides and top and bottom to get it just how you want it.
hope that helps

The link that opens-up will probably be sized to your default window size. To adjust the size just move the mouse over an edge of the window until the mouse pointer changes to a double-headed arrow, then press the left-hand button on the mouse, holding it down and moving the mouse to move the border of the window.

Right-click the link with your mouse, then select "Open in new window" from the menu that pops up.
