I would use a spread sheet.
$800.00 * (1.0725) = $858.00
$800.00 * (1.0700) = $856.00
Increased tax is: $2.00

7% is 7/100 or 0.07. If you just multiply
0.07 * 800 you'll get only the tax on your
purchase. 1 + 0.07 gives you the total (price
of the item plus the tax). Since you only
want to know what the change is, you just
need to subtract the two total values. Since,
the tax is increasing, you know your answer
must be positive.

Here it is really simple for you:

$800 x 7%= $56 tax
$800 x 7.25%=$58 tax

$58-$56=$2.00

you will pay $2.00 more in tax
Good Luck!

Do you know how to find the percentage of a number? If so this is how you would set this up

7.25% of $800 = a
7% of $800 = b

then to get your answer you take the first answer (a) and subtract the second answer (b) from it.

a-b= the additional tax you would pay

convert both percentages to a decimal and multply by 800.
7%=.07 7.25%=.0725 .07x800=a .0725x800=b
b-a=your answer

@ 7.0% the tax would be: (.07)(800) = 56.00
@ 7.25% the tax would be: (.0725)(800) = 68.00
58.00 - 56.00 = 2.00

You can also just say that there is a difference of 0.25%
So (0.0025)(800) = 2.00
