If I recall from the third movie, he gave a confession to his priest and appeared truly sorry for the bloodshed he had caused.

Michael Corleone was a family man and a business man, unfortunately his lines got blurred and made some poor choices also based on some poor biases. If anything he is in limbo, awaiting his final judgement.

I was always taught that all of our sins are forgiven. Micheal made alot of bad moves, and made mistakes. But he did believe in God. He was Catholic. I believe that before the end that he repented his sins and was forgiven and went to heaven.
