every morning before school i usuallt just put on powder to cover my uneven skintone and some redness and to absorb the oil off my face. By lunchtime my face is all oily, and it looks like i never put any powder on at all. i hate having to reapply because i don't carry a purse and i don't intend on bringing my makeup to school.
how can i make it so my skin isn't oily or anything?

omg, i have this EXACT same problem, but 2 weeks ago i found something that has made such a huge difference for me! go pick up a tube of Clinique T-zone oil-control gel: http://www.clinique.com/templates/products/sp_nonshaded.tmpl?CATEGORY_ID=CATEGORY4919&PRODUCT_ID=PROD869
it's ridiculous, but i feel so much better about myself just from that one product, because the oil problem was embarrassing me a lot. i would always use those oil-blotting sheets, but i would have to do it like every 2 hrs to keep up with the oil! sometimes ever HOUR in the extreme summer heat. with this gel, which is light and feels good on your skin, i'm blotting maybe once a day, if that, and your makeup will last way longer. it acts as a primer, too. and so cheap! ($13.50 a tube, which is almost *free* compared to some of the junk you can buy these days.) and if you buy it at macy's or nordstom's, you can always return it if for some reason it doesn't work for you. =)

regarding those blotting sheets, i strongly recommend them; i really like the mary kay ones, which are larger and slightly thicker (more absorbent) than typical sheets. and they cost me $5 for like 75, i think. they also have about a million kinds in Sephora, for you to choose from. personally, i don't like the clean'n'clear brand, which is made of this weird plasticky material... yuck.

anyway, i hope you give the clinique gel a try -- it has done wonders for me, and i carry it everywhere now. if you do buy it, i'd love to know if it works for you! good luck. =)

Here's a couple ideas....
1. Do you have toilet seat covers in your bathroom at school? Hear me out! LOL If you do, you can use them as oil blotters. Pretty much the same thing as the ones you buy in the store. Removes oil, leaves on makeup.
2. No covers? Buy some of oil blotting paper in the makeup section. They work the same way. I think Clean and Clear has them.
3. Mary Kay has a GREAT oil absorbing product that you can dab on in the middle of the day right over your makeup. Does not add anything to your face, but just takes away the oil and leaves a perfect matte finish!

Hope these are helpful! Good luck!

It sounds like you have very oily skin. Do you use a face wash or apply toner afterwards to remove any extra oils everyday? First as a great suggestion you will need a good skin care cleasing routine. Secondly, you can also purchase bloting papers at any retail or drug store to take with you while you're at school. These are papers that have just a little powder on them and can help you get through your day without being constantly oily. I hope this helps.

Oh I ADORE this post danceyourheartout!!!!!!!! Love you girlie! So here is my daily makeup routine. I am in my last year of high school pretty much a woman so I know what I'm doing! I use very little and it works magic - foundation, eyeshadow in dark brown (I use an eyeshadow palette but it's up to you!) eyeliner or eye pencil, mascara, lip stain and lipgloss! 1) Wipe your face. It helps a ton. And after I wipe my face, I moisturize with a thin layer of facial/ body lotion. Up to you again. 2) Take your foundation and ONLY rub it underneath your eyes, on your cheekbones, on your forehead, and chin. If you've got blemishes elsewear, take a tiny dot on your finger and dab it on. When you do this, the fondation acts almost like a contour and it definitely brings out your features more. 3) Let it set for 3-4 min. I drink my coffee and watch stuff on my phone ;) 4) Take your eyeshadow and get an eyelid/crease brush - or yo finger. Apply the eyeshadow very close to your lashes so it adds a teensy bit of drama and definition. 5) Get your eyeliner and wing it out! Hopefully you know how to wing your liner. If not, search it up. Your life will become worthwhile. 6) Take your mascara and apply one coat. Yes, I said ONE coat. I just think putting it on more than 2+ looks tacky and it clumps. One coat makes it fresh and refined. You don't want to look like you are wearing a mask. 7) I don't wear blush because I don't like using it, but you definitely can! I first prep lips using normal EOS or chapstick, and then I use my lipstain and lipgloss (in that order.) Now you've got a pretty, light, innocent makeup look that doesn't look like you've got on a heavy mask.

here is the method to make up madness
cleanser
toner
moister izer
before and after applying make up
then
concealer, foundation, put concealer on before to cover red spotches, then blush
then powder, translucent with a brush
blend
then eyes and lips
then powder again and blend.
finished. LOL.
try mary kay products or the cover girl translucent powder and foundation they have noxema in the foundation and it pulls oil out of the skin.

You should visit a cosmetics counter at the mall and get yourself some blotting sheets. Some people are just oily. Your diet and your hygiene also affects your skin. Drinking water is the number one way to good skin. Second is eating right. Third is using a cleanser, toner, and a moisturizer made specifically for oily skin will help tremendously.

Part of the problem is that most pressed powders use oil to press the powder together. This makes it not very effective at controlling oil. Try Arbonne Intelligence Personalizer. It has a green base to minimize redness, goes on sheer, and uses no oils to press it.

use proactiv oil free mousturizer with spf 15, it rehydrates your skin and absorbs excess oils during the day. you can apply your powder over the mousturizer and it will still work. it should last all day. either that or you could give revlon colorstay cosmetics, they really do last for 16 hours but they can be a bit pricey for some people.
