Home Depot I think is better. They seem to hire more knowledgeable people like retired plumbers and carpenters, ect..

Home Depot because they usually have the things i need unlike Lowes, and the people who work at Home Depot are a lot more helpful.

In my experience Lowe's has better customer service and their store is easier to navigate. They tend to have more home upgrade/decorating products vs. builder products.

However, Expo, which is owned by Home Depot, is very nice and has a lot of higher level stuff and design center type of areas. Their service is MUCH better than Home Depot.

Personally, I like Lowes because yes, they are more helpful, and they seem to have a better selection. Once, we went to Home Depot and we tryed to ask a guy for help (we were at one end of the aisle, and we could see him trying to hide at the other), and everytime we would start to walk down the aisle and make eye contact, trying to hint we needed help, he ducked into the next aisle. We played this game a few times and finally gave up. So I personally think that Lowes in tons more helpful. Just DO NOT GO TO ACE HARDWARE if your looking for something besides gardening tools! lol. I hope this helps.

They`re both like any other "chain" in this country. You can walk into a store in one part of town and the store and the services are great. But drive across town, and it`s like walking through the gates of hell. If these stores were mushrooms, Jacksonville Fla. is a ripe cow patty. We have no less than 5 of each in Duval Co. and growing. When one pops up you can almost expect to see it`s opponent excavating within a few blocks. I`ve digressed. I have to saw it`s about a draw. Probably depends on where your at.

Lowes feels more organized to me. Home Depots are messy and out of stock. However, if I'm buying lumber, I go to Menards or Home Depot because Lowes pieces are very straight.

don't have a Lowe's up here -- the Home Depot is kind of small and up near the mall but the Menard's superstore is the best ... it's a couple of blocks aways and they have everything you might need and then some -- it may be the largest home improvement store in the country ..

Neither as they are like decorating stores for yuppies. The window treatment department has more selection than the window department. If I have to shop one, I do prefer Lowes because they are laid out more logically and the shelves and items are better marked. Neither store pays enough to get people who know anything about home improvement or the products they sell and they don't provide much training in that area.
