I met my husband 4 years ago and he is a wonderful person. I love him very much. I was married before and have 3 really neat sons..25,21 and 18. My husband had never been married before nor has he received any father's day cards in the mail..(his words..he's a funny guy) So without having to "pay" for adopting or at least just pay for costs or whatever...we would love to bring a new baby into our lives. He and I are crazy about children....and my boys are really okay with it. Any ideas? Would love to hear.

We most certainly can afford an adoption but the length of time it takes is anywhere from 3-7 years to finalize one. There are all kinds of new programs and we have been to 3 adoption agencies and the whole process is a lengthy one. Just thought I'd ask here in case there was an intellectual that would have any info on new programs. Our annual income is around $250,000.

You can do a "public" adoption.
You have to first take classes in your local county to qualify as foster parents(but you don't have to be foster parents).
Then from anywhere in the country you can adopt a child that is a ward of the state.
The federal government covers a percentage on a sliding scale up to about $10,000.

Other countries love it when Americans adopt their babies. Most of the time it's very little cost to you, except maybe going to that country to see the baby before you take her home. Also it is possible to find a young girl looking for someone to adopt her baby (That is not yet born). Not sure where to look there. People here put adds in the paper, that they are looking to adopt.

If you cannot afford an adoption, you cannot afford a child.

Cost of having a baby and adopting are similar. Just look around for another agency or consider adopting an orphan from China or Vietnam if you think the people you are talking to are trying to rip you off.

My mother-in-law arranges adoptions through the state of Oregon. The state picks up the entire cost. I'm not sure about other state's though.
