I've re-loaded the OS several times now, and it just doesn't seem to work for more than a few hours before it fries again....New Hard Drive seems to be a logical fix....(correct me if I'm wrong!)

Is this a complicated extraction and replacement, or a simple one? I'm pretty good with this kind of stuff, but I don't want to open up a can of worms, you know?

Thanks Jarhead...No, I haven't tried FDisk, and yes, I'm simply re-installing from the cd. I have not formatted the disc. I don't remember how to do the Fdisk.....Any help with that would be appreciated.

Your Hard Drive may be fine, you don't give enough info, Just that it fries out... Have you FDisk, and Formatted Before Reinstall or are you just reinstalling with the CD.?????? And no, replacing the hard drive is simple and very easy to do. Blowing the circuits by not grounding yourself when opening the PC Tower, that's another ballgame. Good Luck

The link is for a ISO file you can burn to CD,
this is WindowsME BootDisk, which is fine for a boot disk. Download it, the second one from the bottom of the page, burn it.

in case you employ a application like Acronis authentic image homestead or Ghost, you may back each thing as a lot as an exterior not straightforward disk. set up your new not straightforward disk. Then use between the above classes to reload onto your new not straightforward disk. No concern. it truly is going to ward off hours upon hours of attending to reinstall all of your trendy applications and information! i'm continuously comparing new freeware software available. And in spite of what some people say, a number of those are ridden with viruses or secret agent ware! So i exploit Acronis and wipe out the not straightforward disk and reload each thing back in and that i'm backto the position i replaced into before the disaster. What you've been speaking about, utilising the device restoration disks that Dell gave you'll surely restoration the unique stuff that got here with your laptop. you may want to drag out all the CD's of your trendy classes and reinstall. then you definately might want to reload all of your information records back. Toooooo many hours! * * *
