The Grand Old Flag, because I have such a strong association with feelings of patriotism. At ballgames, I often get choked up with the Star Spangled Banner. At school (I'm a teacher), I can't start the day without saying the pledge, and make sure the students understand the words they are saying. It symbolizes so much about our nation! The colors link us to Great Britain, so we remember our roots. I love to look at the changes throughout the years, realizing that each step demonstrates our growth. There is nothing more awe-inspiring than an American flag....whether flapping on the sands of a distant battlefield, folded at the graveside of a veteran after Taps has played, or defiantly placed on the rubble of the World Trade Center....it has the power to unite and rouse us to action.....
