I saw lots of questions about BO, but none quite specific enough. This smell is on just women, mostly when they are around menopausal age. I notice it at work, & sometimes I can't get away from it, nor ignore it. It's not fishy, not the taco (BO) smell, nor is it urine or poo smell. It's not the smell women can get after having sex, either. It's very strong and sweet, a sort of chemical smell, almost like their perfume is mixed with it, but they don't all wear the same perfume, so it can't be just that. It isn't the smell of rancid perfume, either. Certain women have it fairly often, but most of us never have it. No way would I tell them they smell, but just knowing what it is might make it easier to bear. Sometimes, it makes me so angry I'd like to go home; and I try to avoid being around them all day! I work in an office FULL of women. I can smell them from 10 feet away! Any doctors here, or anybody else who can explain this strange, but very common, phenomenon?

Chances are your co-workers have a vaginal Oder that may need a doctor's attention.A vagina should not have an smell of any kind, and I might add,if you can really smell a female co-worker 10 feet away, she may already be in serious, life threatening situation-and I might add-you took the time to ask a very detailed, intelligent question, now it falls to you to go one step more-the sweet sour smell that tends to piss you off,may already in in advanced stages of cancer. Is that heavy or what?Thank the Goddess,or at least your co-workers will because you were smart enough to ask-or at least angry enough.
As I said, the vagina should have no smell unless some thing is introduced, sperm, douche'(which hides smells and may be very dangerous in concealing smells).
I can only recommend to you and plead,Please,Please find a way to let them know.Even if you need to copy this answer and drop a sheet on their desk,as I said-you asked the question-now you know the answer-act on it.Even if its simply(remember I'm a male-SON of MARS)a UTI,I can't or at least have the same type of infection-let your friends know.I hope they have an OB who is female-again a male can't know what a exam is like-A woman does.
Step up Miss,do the right thing for your sisters.

The skin has a lot of sebaceous glands (oily secretion) that can generate BO. The smell is related to the contents of the sebaceous glands which are influenced by our diets!! BO is strong when a person is under stress as the glands are controlled by nerves that deal with stress!! Perfume does not heal, only a shower will to wash away the oily secretion!!

It isn't. And you're carrying the B.S. baton for the day. Body odor. There isn't any. But if two or three people say so then even if it isn't there, you say that. It's used a lot in California. Why. Because Californians generally make up for their worthlessness by doing something that sucks. Don't suck. You don't smell anything. Do you smell, or stink? Howzit feel?

i'm baffled. but some people do have unique body smells that stick around, and maybe the hormonal changes after menopause cause a smell. that being said, i've never read anything about it or smelled it myself.

It is a combination of their own female secretions and sweat. masked of course with perfume. How old are you anyway?

talcum powder? Maybe you're just smelling your own body odor and blaming others?
