1 inch is 160 miles. So multiply 160 and 4 3/4 giving 760 miles. This must be a map with a large area to show.

There are nine 1/2 inch increments in 4 3/4 inches so
9 times 80 = 720 miles.

Now consider that 1/2 inch contains two 1/4 in sections. If a 1/2 inch on the map is 80 miles then a 1/4 inch is 40 miles.

720 miles plus 40 miles = 760 miles based on the scale of 1/2 inch equals 80 miles.

Since every half inch represents 80 miles you want to know how many times 1/2 goes into 4 3/4. 1/2 goes into 4 8 times and into 3/4 1 and a half times; all together that makes 9 1/2 times. Now you just multiply this number by 80 to get 760 miles.

760 miles
if 1/2 inch = 80 miles , then multiply 80 x 8 and 3/4 inch = 120 so, 80x8=640 plus 120= 760

As 1/2 inch is 80 miles; 1 inch is 160 miles (80*2=160).

4 3/4 = 4.75

4.75*160=760 miles

your answer would probably be 680 miles. each 1/2 inch = 80miles. 4 whole inches = 640miles. we estimated that 3/4 inches would equal 40 miles because if you add 2 to the 1/2 at the top and the bottom you would get 3/4 which would make the 1/2 of 80.
