I have a PE assignment and I can't figure out what it means so anyone out there knows any answers. Please. I can't afford to fail or else I'll be grounded.

In Basketball, the key term is "TEAMWORK"

I hope this helps..."key terms" is very vague.

Offense - when your team has the ball.

Defense - when your team is guarding the offense (keeping them from scoring.

Turnover - when the offense makes a mistake and the defense ends up with the ball.

Assist - Making a pass to a fellow teammate that enabled he/she to score.

Other words that are self explanatory:
Rebound
2 point basket
3 point basket
Freethrow
Jumpball

Referee Calls:

Foul - being too agressive while guarding an offensive player or the offensive player running over or hitting the defensive player.

Out of Bounds - The ball going outside the end lines

Double Dribble - Dribbling the ball with two hands.

Traveling - Taking more than 2 step with the ball with out dribbling.

3 seconds - offensive player being in the lane for more than 3 seconds.

Over and Back - offensive player crossing the half court line with the ball and then stepping back over the line.

Foul: to foul a player on the opposing team by grabbing their arm or hand, I think it's anywhere above the waist

Free throw: you get a free throw shot from the line if your fouled

Slamdunk: when you dunk the ball in the basket

Flagrant foul: a foul that is unecessarily physical and there is no play made for the ball

Technical foul: that is when you mouth off to the official

Double Team - Set 2 defenders upon the player in possession.
Triple Team - Set 3 defenders upon the player in possession.
Boxout - Keeping opposing player away from key rebounding positions under the basket.
Steal - stripping the ball off an opposing player and subsequent success in gaining possession.
Rebound - Gaining possession of the ball that comes off the rim or board after a missed shot attempt.
Field goal - a successfully made shot.
Alley Hoop - player dunking the ball directly after catching it in midair.


Shot Clock Violation - Team penalised for failing to put a shot up after 24 seconds.
BackCourt Violation - Player penalised for sending the ball back into his own half after team has taken it into the opponents half. Opposition awarded possession.
10 second violation - Team penalised for keeping the ball in their own half for more than 10 seconds.
