I quit drinking 9 months ago this month. I did it on my own. I am 32 and I drank everyday. 6-9 beers a day, or a bottle of Kettle one every 2 days. Quitting was actually pretty easy for me. When I set my mind to something, I do it. Problem is that I am bored to death!!! I have had to completly change my life, friends, etc. I met a great girl, but I feel like I am to boring because I don't want to go out to bars after dinner. It's hard to be around alcohol and drunk people. My life is better, and I never have been in better shape and health. But I am gettig ansy!!! Where did my life go? I was a very social and fun person but it seems like everything has alcohol involved.

This is very normal. You have made a decision to change your life so that could be difficult in itself. But, what I am getting from you that you were nothing but a social drinker anyway. It was more than the beer it was the atmoshere, the people, and the all together good time. You will be fine. Explain to your new girl what you are going through (we like fixin things) and I am more that sure she will have some suggestions on how you guys will handle it. I love a man that is sincere. It means more to me than money. She may be able to introduce you to her crowd and maybe they can show you other interest.

You need to allow yourself more time to acclimatize to your new lifestyle. For a big portion of your life all you knew were drinking, smoking, and the people that came with them...... now you have changed for the better and it may take years instead of months to feel comfortable in your new skin. Millions of people don't drink or smoke and have fun filled lives so it will happen to you too. You shouldn't feel guilty about not wanting to go to the bars either, remember that.
