NO! There are only a few types of poisonous snakes in north america. One type is the family of rattlesnakes whitch are very distinktive in thier look. One they have a rattle and two a diamond shape head. The second is the cottonmouth or watermokasen. Not generally in your neck of the woods. number three is the coral snake. Very distinctive in looks. Bright bands of Yellow, Red and black. Usualy found in the south west US. Most likely the only poisonous snake in your area would be a rattlesnake. Some of the eastern varieties can get quite large.
To get rid of it you can get some sort of reacher to grab it if your affraid to do it with your hands or an exterminator. Some big counties have a local Vector control that will send somebody out to catch a snake. You can even try your police department if you feel it is poisonous....
GOOD LUCK!!!
Hope this helps...
As for an ealier post on your Question the quote is...
Yellow touches black your OK jack. Yellow touches red your dead.... And thats to tell the differernce between a coral snake and a scarlett king snake...

Snakes are wonderful and mostly harmless beneficial creatures. Do not get rid of it. Leave him be and he will do the same to you :)
And for the girl who posted first:
The saying goes, Red meets Yellow, kill a fellow, Red meets black, poison does lack.
THis is for the confusion people have between the milk, king and Coral snake. milk and king ok, Coral venomous........

Hi there;
Brown snakes as a rule are not dangerous in that they are not a poisonous snake. They are, however, extremely beneficial to have around much like the garter snake.
I know that they may make your skin crawl as they, like most snakes, are not the average persons cup of tea. I, personally, adore snakes of all species and am a strong advocate of providing safe places for them to live in peace with us.
To solve your problem, which for you and your life style can be perceived as a problem, simply learn what a brown snake needs and remove it from your living space. I am talking about what snakes need to have a happy home. Things like a ready supply of food, shelter, place to regulate their body temp., and places to hole up for the winter. Remove those needful things from around your home and the snakes will move on to more agreeable surroundings. I hope you reconsider about getting rid of them as they no doubt are keeping the pest population in check around your home. Do take care and good luck. :)
