if you are australian - get an E3 visa. You'll have to have a job offer but the visa is for 2 years and can be extended.

Why would you want a visa? Just come illegally like everybody else in the world does.

you wouldn't get a work permit, you don't have a specialist skill thats lacking in the states.
Most 17yr olds are kids in the US, you'd find it rubbish. Wait until your early 20's and try to get a few more qualifications or trade.
Sorry it that seems tough, but we might as well be honest.
