This is the first year our school has implemented the AP english course. However, my teacher is unexperienced with teaching this course and has never done it before. Should I take it or drop it? Thanks.

i guess it depends how much you love english and what your other classes are. if you love english, go ahead and take it! if you dont, you may not enjoy it because your teacher probably doesnt know what he/she is doing. if you are taking other AP clases, you might want english to be an easy class. but if you arent taking another other ap (or honors) classes, then you should consider this one since it is available. also think about the ap tests (if you are planning on taking it), do you think your teacher will be able to prepare you enough for them?

It depends on the teachers reputation for other classes. My mom is actually a first year AP english teacher and all of her students did great on the final AP test. If the teacher seems like she is pretty good in all of her other classes, then take it. She might take a while to get the hang of it, and even if she ends up being only an OK teacher, I think it would be worthwhile. I'm in AP english right now, too, so we'll see how it goes for both of us. Oh, and it does look good on your college application...especially if you haven't taken many other AP classes.

I had some thoughts about this AP thing. I'm in Canada, so it's really useful if I want to go into the States, otherwise...not so. I known lots of people who took AP english in my school, only 1 I think got a 5 on it. And AP is only useful if you get a 4 or 5 so it's pretty tough. I would say if you're good and love english, take it; otherwise, don't. It costs too much time and effort.

You should still take it, it is usally a balance between what you get from the teacher and what you give in return, and you will still be challenged to your highest intellectual capabilities. When I was in my high school English AP class we had to test ourselves weekly on vocabulary words that we would had to hunt down on our own, which has since become a treasure engrained within me. You will be with the smartest of the smarts, and will be glad you went the extra mile--believe me knowledge is your best friend!

if you're a senior, go for it. you're one of the few people on this site who spells their answers correctly, so you've already got an advantage. if you aren't in your last year of high school, and you're really worried about the teacher's experience, wait and take it next year. you'll be better at english by then anyhow, and you will have heard what the course is like.
but unless the teacher is awful, it can't really hurt. if you can read analytically and express your ideas well, you're golden.
good luck.

properly, English for me replaced into straightforward because i'm sturdy at it and had wonderful instructors the years before. And it also helps my English instructor were my freshman English instructor so I already knew what her type replaced into going to be like. :) Her homework load replaced into very well. the surely ingredient i actually disliked replaced into all the interpreting we had to do because many of the books were lifeless boring. As for APUSH, it replaced into kind of unfavorable. My unique instructor had a clinical incident the third month of faculty so something else of the first semester we had to administration 2 (incompetent) subs before we completely were given assigned a sparkling instructor 2d semester. the recent instructor replaced into wonderful besides the undeniable fact that. no longer a lot homework besides examine the e book and we took a financial ruin try (each so often 2) on the authentic of the week. yet he properly-prepared us for the AP try. My unique instructor wasn't that not straightforward both. He might want to offer us a financial ruin each week to ascertain on the authentic lets take a lengthy quiz. No homework besides examine. As for succeeding, see you later as you do your artwork on time and pay interest in college, you'd be very well. both the learning are fantastically straightforward see you later as you reside to inform the tale authentic of your study.

If I were you, I would take it. For one, if you get an A, you get a 5.0 score. Second, if you are having trouble with the teacher, you can get help with a tutor or another person, like your parents.

Yes! Take it. You won't regret it. If the teacher messes up, I can't see how it would hurt your grade, or your experience.
