I have Blue Cross HMO, and it really hasnt worked for me. I need surgery on my knee and i've been waiting for 2 months to get it done, thanks to the fact that my insurance requires me to see a general doctor first (who makes u wait for like a month for an appt for a simple referral) then get another appointment for a specialist (wait another month) then wait 3 weeks again for an MRI, and now i have to wait another week and a half for surgery.

Please, help me find a good insurance. I'm tired of this! I live in southern california if that helps. Thanks

well, if you are smart and can work the system well, there's really no better place than kaiser. everything is tied together, and it's worth the patience to get all your needs taken care of through one central provider. that being said, as long as you have any HMO, you'll need to see a generalist first. if you can afford it, switch over to a PPO or POS, but know what you'll be paying way more for basically the same services.

I don't know if things are different in CA - I live in NC. Blue Cross is a monopoly here. We have Blue Cross and it costs us a fortune. Twice we have left them and searched out other insurance companies and have actually tried a few others, but we always go back to BCBS. And the BCBS know that people do this - I have been told by someone when I was reapplying that they know it. People will leave, try out other insurance companies and will come back. They don't care. The other insurance companies aren't big enough to compete with BCBS and their coverage winds up stinking big time. You won't be able to live with it, if you actually wind up needing to use insurance. I had one insurance that wound up paying for NOTHING the entire time (no office visit, no test, no medication, no anything!!!!) - I was just freely handing over my money to them, so I could carry around this beautiful paper card in my wallet. So, here I am broke, but I have insurance - both thanks to BCBS. Good luck (but BCBS knows you'll be back.)

There are many web sites offering good health insurance plans and free, no obligation health insurance quotes.

You want to make sure you understand the coverages offered, coverage limits, deductibles, co-pays, and exclusions for any pre-existing conditions.

I recommend the two top-rated health insurance quote providers:

1) InsureMe - they give you the five best health insurance quotes from top-rated health insurers nationwide. To Request a free, no obligation quote, Go to - http://www.insureme.com/landing.aspx?Refby=613598&Type=health

2) eHealthinsurance.com offers you side-by-side quote comparisons from a large network of health insurers across the country.

I hope that helps! Take care and best of luck!

The cost of knee joint replacement surgery is very low in India as compared to USA,UK and Canada. You can get the surgery done there in a fraction of cost of what would you pay in USA or private UK

There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges orthopaedic surgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Forerunners Healthcare.I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories.

I have also read that they arrange financing for american and canadian patients as all surgery is not covered by insurance or by NHS in the UK.They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. The cost savings are incredible. As a doctor i personally believe that your knee joint replacement surgery can be easily handled in India as the quality of healthcare available here is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

My cousin also got her knee replacement surgery for in India through the forerunners healthcare .She is more than very happy with the results. She is totally pain free now.She just paid 25% of the amount she was quoted in USA and is all praise for this forerunners healthcare company. hope this helps.
I would recommend this company to you as you are willing to travel abroad and get the surgery at low cost.

Switch over to the PPO as fast as you can.
You can see any doctor in the network and depending on the plan, you can choose your options regarding the deductible, co-pay etc.

I currently have BCBSofCA and I love my PPO plan. Its the one with full prescription drug coverage which I don't really need now but could in the future.

Call your broker ASAP!!!!!
Good luck.

Forget that! Look for a holistic practioner in your area; even if you have to drive a ways, there are other alternatives to having surgery & using conventional medicine. It is worth every penny.
