We all pay into the school system but the minority that gets to say What to teach, concerning religion , have no children of their own or very few do, [gay lesbian coalition] I feel if we all put in the pot ,we all must have a say in it! Iam sad and depressed of hearing about these people wanting to teach children as young as 4 yrs old about homo-sexuality and if one does not agre with this ,the child is punished at school, read back ,im Massachussets a kindergarden was beaten up in the school yard because his father did not want his child to be thaught this poison! We all eventually learn all this , but WHO DOES IT BENEFIT TO TEACH IT AT THIS AGE LEVEL? I say lets stat a take back the money and give it to schols that are doing a splendid job with our children ,and teaching BOTH sides of the coin!

I would love that. I went to private school, and I think it's unfair that my parents had to pay money to the local school district AND to my school. Many argue that vouchers aren't fair, because people who send their children to private school are rich and can afford it, but that just isn't true. Most of the families at my school had to give up a lot, and often had to scrimp and save, to send their children to my school. After we all graduated, nobody had the money to go to a University, so about 70% of us went to community college. I would love for there to be vouchers for this reason and for your reason stated.

It's called the voucher system. Currently it's not allowed in the US, but there are people trying to get it passed. If you watched 20/20 last Friday night ("Stupid in America"), they were talking about it.

Although, if you're upset about what's being taught in your child's classroom - get involved! Teachers won't say controversial things when a parent is in the classroom. Also, the more you know about the teacher and the other students in the class/school, the more you can talk to your child and correct any teaching he/she is receiving that you don't agree with or approve of.

Sorry, but vouchers are being challenged across the nation. At this point, your taxes go to support public schools. Period. Be reassured, however, and perhaps comforted, because not MUCH of your money actually makes it to the schools.......

What you are talking about is the "Voucher Program", as far as I know, no state has implemented it yet.
What you should do, is let your local school district and state politicians know how you feel. Write an informed temperate letter and you will get far more response than you expected.
