Check the EEOC.gov website. It's a government agency for situations like this and/or contact a good employment attorney and seek advice, ASAP. Also, you will need to consider your situation. For example, if you're within a large corporation there is a lot that can be done. If it's a small business... it could be very difficult to resolve the issue.

Generally you have 90 - 180 days to file a formal complaint.

I know of someone in the middle of something like this right now. Though, a guy... considering charges against female co-workers.

Whatever you do, keep good notes of this, with time, day, and your thoughts.

Best wishes!

You may want to approach him and indicate that you did not appreciate the gesture, playful or not. Let him know that you are a lady and you feel resentment for him thinking of you as a football buddy. People run to HR for harrassment suits all the time and I don't think that's anything that you cannot work out on your own to command respect as a person. Whether he was making a sexual gesture or not doesn't matter. You need him to know that you will not be treated like that again.

Coming from a Store manager. If he really slapped you on your derier! Write a formal complaint, have it signed by his supervisor, or if he owns the place, have him sign for receipt of it. Keep that copy in your files at home. Then I would drop the issue. Filing for harrassment will just get you fired, and you have no evidence what so ever, your word against his. You probably would not win. In todays day judges know that too many women file false claims of harassment. If you have a formal complaint filed with your company than there is record of past harassment if it happens again..

Does your company has a human resource office (personnel office), if yes, you need to report it (informally) so that there will be a record. If not, then you go to your computer and type a Memo For Future Reference and type in all the details (time, date, location, what you were standing or talking) and keep or file it with you as a record.

well, he shouldnt be touching you regardless, i was in a situation like that once.....
i waited it out to see if he would do it again (not that i would give him the opportunity) if he did try again-whether verbal or physical, i would report it
-you should tell someone you know and trust about your situation, so that at least if anything were to happen on a more threatning level, they can help you
-eventually, i saw my boss's character ... figured he is not my type of boss and quit
-be careful

If you didn't like it then you should say something next time. A simple; Please don't do that ! Should do it. Remember, He is intruding your space, so you are in the right. Not only is it disrespectful to you, it is also disrespectful to your husband, b/f, fiancee if you have one. If your boss is married I'm sure he wouldn't want another man to slap his wifes behind !.........Hope things get better......Good Luck!

Don't let it go.... What this creep did to you is sexual harassment. Your company MUST have a policy that protects you from this crap. You should immediately report this to your human resoueces department...

What he did is sooooooooooo wrong. You have the right to a work enviornment free from this behavior, and no one, not your boss, or anyone else should be allowed to get away with it.

Record the date, time, and if you have any witnesses - keep track of that info - just incase you ever do have to go to court.

Whether you let it slide or not - that is up to you.
