A good teacher is first and foremost a good EXAMPLE to their students.
The first objective for any teacher is to gain respect of the students. The second objective is to teach the matter in class so that children understand the material, not throwing truckloads of homework at them.
The first objective of a student is to understand proactive learning is deeper than subjective learning. They must learn to strive, not be pulled along.

Teacher objectives - challenge students to achieve to their maximum potential, provide a role model of academic and social behavior, maintain a classroom that is safe and free of prejudices, provide opportunities for real learning and discovery, including self-exploration and expression, and be an advocate for life-long learning that carries into the students' homes
Student objectives - come to school every day prepared to learn (correct materials, sufficient sleep, homework completed, etc.), participate in all learning activities, question and seek answers, be respectful to others
