i know he was stung in the heart by a stingray but thats not what killed him on the way back to his boat why did he die was it the poison did he die to death heartattack?

Stingray toxin (poison) lowers blood pressure. Loss of blood lowers blood pressure. He went into irreversible shock.

There was poison.. the barb that went into his heart..
even pull a porcupine needle out.. the barb seems to open just beneath the skin, so imagine his pulling it out and tearing a huge hole in his heart! Perhaps if it hadn't hit his heart, there may have been a chance..and maybe if he hadn't pulled at it.. and if and if and if
His death is such a horrific loss to everyone on this planet..

What is believed to have happened is that the sting ray pierced his heart and after he pulled it out, there was tremendous blood loss, enough to end his life in a very short amount of time. By the time doctors on the beach got to him, he has lost too much blood and there was nothing they could do. At least that is what is suspected of happening but we won't know for a while, at least until the autopsy reports come out.

results of the autopsy have yet been made public but the general view is that it was the puncture to his heart by a bull ray barb......i will never forget the image of steve irwin talking to the camera while sharks were in a feeding frenzy all around him while he stood in the water...the guy was a crazy kook but he was fascinating, funny and very entertaining...i kind of felt one day his luck would run out the way he took risks dealing with wildlife but i would never have guessed it would take a stingray to be the culprit....my condolences to his friends and family....he was one of a kind and his legacy will continue as his shows run on animal planet

Instead of guessing, perhaps we could wait for the autopsy results. If they are made public.
Regardless, it was mother nature that did him in. Steve was a land animal in the realm of water animals. On land, he was agile, clever, able to beat the predators at the game. In the water, he was out of his element and much more vulnerable.
I'll miss the guy.

I heard that he went into cardiac arrest after pulling the barb out, but then, as someone else said, the autopsy will reveal all, if it is made public.
