A 1970 monte doesn't have a whole lot of wires. In the event that you can't decipher it though, pick up a chiltons manual for your vehicle, available at most part stores for around ten bucks.

I used to get mine at the public library years ago......but nowadays, if you try google.com you can probably find a website that has older wiring diagrams for your vehicle. Other than that, many auto parts stores carry different manuals, (Chiltons, Haynes, etc.) that also offer such info.

Check at your parts place; NAPA, Auto Zone, etc. They carry numerous books on the subject. The local library may even have something sitting on their shelf.
