I always go for comedy, so anything funny.
Do you sing?
Play an instrument?
Dance?
How about a funny exercise video? Weird clothes, funny exercises, etc. Music that doesn't match the moves -
A hunting video...Hunting something silly - like the goose that laid the golden egg, etc.
Get a stuffed animal, make the video around that.
Painting lessons.
Sewing lessons..by the time your shirt or skirt or whatever is finished it could be long on one side and short on other and buttoned crooked, etc.
Do a take off on some kind of thing you saw on TV.
Do a man-on-the-street interview. Ask a question and then tape the answers, etc.

At a young age, comedy is always the best bet for keeping the audience's attention. A good short film idea is something comical and referential. Not so much a parody to crudely make fun of, but your own funny version of something the majority of your audience knows and probably loves.
So, for ideas, what TV shows are really popular in your grade right now? Movies in theaters? Since you're making a movie, it's easiest to adapt an idea that's already a movie.
When I was in 8th grade, lots of people in my grade were really into 'Making the Band' and, coincidentally, D12's 'My Band' had just hit the radio, so 4 of my girlfriends and I decided to make our our spin-off of a dysfunctional band called E5 trying to make it big in the music biz.
'Kill Bill: Volume 1' had also just come out in theaters, so 2 guys in my grade made a spin-off of the movie, in which they had a death list comprised of our 4 of our favorite teachers and 1 of the really popular girls.
Yet another group in my 8th grade movie class made a parody of 'Dawson's Creek' and, instead, called it 'Jenna's Puddle'. And Jenna was a boy.
There's so much fun you can have when you brainstorm in the comedy-spin-off area. Try it and you'll see!
Sorry for saying so much, but 1 more quick idea: Comical interview movies are another great choice, because, believe me, people really get a kick out of seeing their friends and classmates answer bizarre and funny questions up on screen.

Do a spoof of your favorite movie, just make sure it's not rated R. Take a scene that is fairly well-known, so that everybody will recognize that it came from a movie, and then change things a bit, so that it's funny.

Just remember, every movie should have 3 acts.
Act 1 : people and characters introduced. the problem is also introduced.
Act 2 : the problem gets worse.
Act 3 : the problem is resolved.
