don't just all the sudden start talking to her. first, have a guy you and the girl know be walking with you and then he goes over and starts talking to her with you and then you say something kind of clever, funny, or interesting so that she remembers you and then you can say hi to her in the halls but not every time you see her. you might want to let her start saying hi to you first. it doesn't matter that much.

Yeah, it's true, they do know.
Why do you not want to make sure she doesn't know you like her? Just go for it!!
If you must keep up the charade, however, I suggest just play it cool and be the nice guy I'm sure you are. Girls like nice guys. Maybe she'll end up liking you too and make the first move!

Why would you want to hide your intentions? It only makes you look dishonest and creepy.
Talk to her casually, like it is no big deal if she rejects you or not (there are other girls out there anyway). You are less likely to get rejected if you act a little indifferent as to whether you succeed in impressing her or not (conversely, if you act needy, desperate, or nervous, she is more likely to reject you).

Tell her if you and her could remain friends and don't hurt her feelings and say you don't like her as a girlfriend. Maybe you're thinking that she's not your type or maybe she's not pretty enough to be your girlfriend.
