Do you think that feminism is just an excuse to treat men like crap or do you think feminism is way of creating equal oppurtunity for both men and women?

I think some things like equal pay for equal work are good, but I believe that most feminists go way overboard on their male bashing, political correctness etc.

When feminism means denying the actual differences between men and women, an insistence on an artificial view of 'equality' is damaging.

Firefighters were forced to reduce the requirements to pass their tests so that 'equal' women could get in. Same for the military and police forces.

A woman cop will shoot a suspect much sooner than a male cop because she is not as capable of hand to hand combat against a large male aggressor.

Beware of a demand for equal treatment where there is a real difference.

It's no longer living by men's rules. Why should standards be set by what is acceptable to men? It's not something putting one gender down, it's raising another one up to the same level. For example, pay equality. Why should it be different anymore (I'm talking about people in same position, like two people doing the exact same job)?

Women need men like a fish needs a bicycle.

BTW, I think a lot of young women today don't have a clue about what feminism is about. They think all is hunky dory.

Feminism began in the 1960's in response to the need for women to be treated fairly. Equal wages, abolishment of double standards. As with any form of oppression, women were tired of their limited role in the world, and wanted to be viewed as worthy competitors in the workplace. Women are just people, who want to be viewed as intelligent, independent, viable, and capable, right? Not sex objects (unless we want to be!) Read about Gloria Steinem. Things have evened out for the most part by now, so there is no need for militant or radical feminism, and it should not be used as an excuse to treat men like crap. No one should treat anyone like crap for any reason.

I don't think it's wrong to stand up for your rights. Just as long as it's not extreme or will harm others. Women were called feminists because they wanted an equal opportunity as a lot of minorities want in the land of the free. Being a man hater is extreme and quite scary if you ask me.

It depends on how it is used. I think women and men are equal, and we should judge based on actions. Anything can be used to oppress others. Ideas such as religion can be used for great good or great evil. The same is true of feminism.

I see feminism as a way for creating opportunity for both women and men. For women to feel confident about themselves in this society and for men to help them feel that way.

It should be a way of creating equal opportunity for both sexes, but some women abuse it.

I think feminism is stupid and in a way hyporitical. Most feminists fight for 'equality' and to end prejudice, but feminism in itself is completely biased toward women and against men - which creates inequality in favour of women, and prejudice against men.

It should be about equal opportunity for men and women.
