Hi,

It is an intense city. Drastic and Contrasting where you will find everything from Roedo Drive like avenues to slums where people live by the day. The most difficult part for the inhabitants that dont have to live on a day by day basis I belive it is the enormous amount of traffic and the daily confrontation with social disparity and child begars. On the other hand there are fantastic museums of which el Poliforum Siqueiros and the Antropology Museum are the most amazing in arquitecture and content. There is also the UNAM University which has a great 60s vibe with arquitecture, sculptures, auditoriums for classical music, independent movies...

Dont let the size of the city scare you from visiting! Man tourists coming to Mexico skip the city and go straight to other states which is a pity, after all Mexico City is built on the city of the Aztec Empire, Tenochtitlan.

I think there are many Mexicans in Mexico City. Many of them are now in Los Angeles. Seriously, I think this city is sometimes overlooked as a tourist attraction. Very historic. It is actually quite modern, and presently there are attempts to upgrade its asthetic beauty. Once the issue as to who is president of Mexico is resolved, this city should become a vibrant and appealing member of the world's great cities.

I love Mexico City. Its beautiful, vibrant, exciting, great food, and close enough to the Pacific Coast to take a quick side trip to Acapulco or Zihuatanejo.

I lived there for years and it is great. If you get overly sensitive to police with guns, then don't go. I used to travel for business there (before I moved there) and HATED it. Only dealing with hotels, taxis, and traffic is really awful. However if you have a few days and are not dependant on a schedule it is great. I would certainly not hesitate to move back.
