We need a book that has a good section on research papers and writing with MLA style. Some grammar would be good too. (A book like this may not exist.)

I am looking for a 101 text, not a style manual or handbook. The text would introduce writing essays in different styles (argument, narrative, process, etc.), and include a chapter on research papers.

YES, there are several. Examples: Writers Handbook (Harbrace)..2ND edition, Writers Inc. Write for College: Student Handbook, or 6th edition, Work in Progress. My fave is the Writers Handbook. Writers Harbrace Handbook has sections on the writing process, MLA Citations, APA Citations, Grammer, researching, diction, effective sentences, mechanics and punctuation. Check your local book store (Barnes/Noble etc.)

ESL will be a misnomer. ESL scholars are quite English speaking scholars, who've a "custom," language likely spoken at homestead or at a grandparents homestead. i'd were considered an ESL pupil (if we had it in at the moment), because my mom and family individuals spoke Spanish to their mom and father. yet they in no way spoke Spanish to us, so we in no way realized it. So maximum ESL scholars already use English as their dominant language (even although the acronym stands for English as a second Language). ELL are your genuine English Language inexperienced persons. They predominantely talk a language except English, and ought to come to college speaking actually no English. So the answer for your question is - ESL scholars already use English in college, round campus, and distinctly a lot each and every position else. they could nicely be uncovered to a distinct language at homestead - and attempting to study and / or protect their custom language - which contain Spanish, Navajo, Keres, and so on. practise is a miles extra complicated employer than maximum individuals comprehend. even though it would not quite should be that way - that's the way it truly is at the moment set up.

St. Martin Handbook - it covers MLA, APA, and chicago writing style (including how to cite sources that you found). Also, it contains a lot of grammatical rules too, including some references on how to improve your english if you are not a native speaker of english.
I think it includes a section on how to write a research paper too
