Really, a lot of gossip is just about people's personal relationships. It might not be wrong, depending on the situation, and I don't know about it being exciting.

I think they are wrong when someone ends up getting hurt. We all know that they are fodder for gossip.

I can't stress it enough. It's not just hurting you--it's hurting your spouse, your future relationships, your children, your family, etc. The list goes on and on. Trust and respect are really hard to gain back once you lose them because you have a problem with lust.
It's wrong.
It's stupid.
It's pathetic.
