I'm really hoping that not ALL Christains are that full of hate, you only hear the stupid extremes on sites like this.

I was kind of talking about, not when you actually ARE flaunting it, but you're like on this site and talking about it with someone and someone says you are when you arn't.

People do have the right to take pride in things I think, so people should take pride in their sexuality whatever it is!

doug s, If you think gays are gross and discusting, you should really reevaluate your life. Do you REALLY want to spend your entire life hating people? It's not going to make you happy at all.

I don't find it annoying at all and what I would say to "straight" people who are annoyed is straight people don't have the burden of educating a very ignorant world about their right to be who they are and to find happiness with whomever they wish. I'm probably as "straight" as they come, but thank goodness I was raised with the good sense to know that everyone deserves to love and be loved and it is not my business to judge people based on an ignorance of their choices. Unfortunately the only way to educate some people is to join forces and march through the streets - whatever it takes to turn this country around in it's way of thinking - I'm from Vermont and it's been a big issue in our state as I'm sure you've heard. I'm very proud that the majority of our representatives had the good sense to make a stand and pass the civil union legislation - hey one small step at a time, right?

I'll make this statement. All people aren't threatened by the openness of gay or lesbian people, I believe that the reason they
respond to the statements is because somewhere in their consciousness they know that they have a weakness to it and cannot come to grips with their own. It would be strange for people to sit at a table and talk about certain aspects of their humanism in public. However, I find that they talk about work , school, finance, fixing up the house, etc, etc.
So, it has nothing to do with being on the other side of the fence but what is your perspective of others. People are people.
Now let me ask this, would you react to someone, say I mas.... every morning, while you and your friends are at the table talking and having a good time.
Think about it. It's what they feel within themselves that causes a response and for those who have tried both sides... of course it does not affect them one way, or another. Therefore their outlook in more balanced not like most of us.

I don't give a damn!

Throughout my life, I've lost count of how often I've seen

hetero couples walking hand in hand
hetero couples hugging each other
hetero couples kissing each other
billboard signs flaunting heterosexuality
tv commercials flaunting heterosexuality
popular music flaunting heterosexuality
magazine flaunting heterosexuality
office cubicles with pictures of husbands, wives, children
wedding albums all over the place
sales catalogs flaunt hetersexuality

When Gay and Lesbians do the same thing, SUDDENLY it's called FLAUNTING, when, more often than not, it's simply Gays and Lesbians being true to themselves and to all others.

for so long the "GAY" side of love has been kept silent, so miscommunication has been perpetuated.

My husband and I love each other without pretention. When at the mall, we hug each other quite normally. Sometimes we hold each other. We sometimes give each other a quick spontaneous kiss. We are proud of our love for each other, and we're not surrendering to homophobia that others choose to hold on to. We're not trying to gain attention. Our point is to be ourselves.

I think you may be misinterpreting the reactions of people who oppose homosexual behavior.

Let me make an example. Suppose I were to pose the question, "Why are people threatened when Democrats are open about their politics? You know, the annoying person who goes, 'Yeah well I don't tell people about my politics!' "I don't go marching about how much of a Republican I am,' People like that annoy me, are they like that because they're jealous and feel threatened by it? I find it annoying!"

See what I mean? Sometimes our predisposition to judge others colors our interpretation of their reactions, and we think that they feel threatened or jealous or something. It may be nothing more than they think your politics, or your sexual behavior, is reprehensible.

I'm bi and I don't tell people about my sex life.

I don't go to work either and tell people that I slept with my girlfriend last night.

I have always been a private person. I'm not insecure about being bisexual. I mentioned this a few days ago in a question, I spent a number of years hating myself for being bi. But I can to terms with it. But I still don't go wearing a sign around my neck telling people I'm bi.

Some people are out to fight for rights and I think that is great. People should fight for their rights.

If you are open about your sexuality, more power to you.
But don't look down upon me because I am private about it.

Personally I just think it's the "queen" attitude that annoys people. A good amount of Americans really couldn't give a s**t if you're straight or gay, as long as it isn't rubbed in their faces. There's a lot of gay men out there that don't act like flamers.

Well, I think people do that because they don't know what else to do. For most people who are of the younger generation I think we are more open minded to homosexuality where as people of our parents era are not. Know what I mean. I say to each their own however I don't like it when anyone puts their sexuality out there straight or homosexual. That should be private!

They're not threatened, they're grossed out.

Think about it. The term 'homosexual' is nothing but a description of what these people have sex with. The very name is sexual, and is equivelant to 'telling people about your sex life'.

They are right. I don't dislike homosexuals because they are homosexuals, I dislike them because they are like Religious fanatics. (Note, I dont dislike homosexuals in general, as thay would be very ignorant, I do dislike the flamboyantly gay that make it theri business to let you know they are gay) I go to a major university, and one of the things that makes me angry is all these various relgious groups that try and get you to convert, and if you walk by them without listening to them ramble they say you are going to go to hell. Alot of the stereotypical "gay" mannerisms are over the top, but if you ask them to calm it down a bit you are automaticall a bigot. Its fine to be proud of who you are, but there are standards of conduct when you are in public and homosexuals shouldnt get a free pass because they have a rainbow on their shirts. By acting flamboyantly homosexual you are forcing your politcal adgenda down other peoples throats, and that is unacceptable. By acting in the manner that "open" gays do, they are basically saying that they are going to do socially unacceptable things and if you call them on it you are a homophobe, its nothing more than a way for them to get away with stuff that noone else could. Example: One time me and my friends were at a kareoke bar, and one of my gay friends got rather drunk, took his shirt off, and went around slapping mens butts. Had anyone who was not gay done that, they'd have been asked to leave, but the management doesnt want to face legal action. I know I cant change your mind with this answer, but I hope it opens your mind to these peoples perspective on the issue.
