It's because the lift/elevator is kind of like its own isolated world. So, just as gravity holds you in the same relative place in the lift/elevator car, the air that the fly is flying through moves simultaneously with you and the lift/elevator, as well, so its position remains constant (and annoying), relative to your head.

The lift is going down so there would be laminar air-flow past the outside of the lift in an upward direction and the burble point would be just above the roof of the lift. Since, however, the air beneath the lift would be pressurised, there would also be some ingress of turbulent air into the lift-cage. Upon noticing the turbulence the fly would react by saying to himself, "Blimey, luv-a-duck guvner, what's goin' on 'ere? I'd better watch it or I'll bang me 'ead" (it was a London fly) and thus the fly avoids contact with hard surfaces.
Trust me, I know about these things.

I would think that momentum would carry it, even if it was in the air flying at the time...
But remember if a fly is flying, and the elevator moves, whatever the fly was aiming for he'll probably still aim for, and I bet they are used to anomalies from flying around anyway so its not a sudden shock when the lift they are in starts to move...it doesn't move very fast anyway...

It truthfully is troublesome whilst your group isn't doing nicely. that's all element of being a fan nonetheless. often times it could no longer look like it, yet dealing with those brutal losses is a hundred% relatively worth it for all the spectacular wins your group gets for the time of the season. The Rangers walked off against Mariano some video games in the past, and it sucked. The very next day, there grew to become into yet another interesting interest, the Yankees battled lower back the full interest and ended up triumphing. I save in mind that interest made me so chuffed, in order that happy with our adult men for battling lower back and not in any respect giving up. going for the time of the troublesome cases is a element of being a baseball fan. It makes the wins that far extra effective, nonetheless. The Rays are a competent group, and nonetheless in 2d place interior the AL East. they're too good of a set to stay like this for something of the season, i will enable you understand that.

Because it is still flying, if it stopped flying, it would still fall to the ground, as gravity would have an effect, but it would not hit its head on the ceiling, unless it actively flew into it.

because of Galileo's principle of relativity; all steady motion is relative and cannot be detected without reference to an outside point. therefore, if you were in a box floating in air, and you were floating inside the box (just pretend its possible), that was moving, at say, 50 mph, you wouldn't have a clue if it was moving 5, 50, 100, 1000mph, or not moving at all. and a fly is in the air, right?

When the lift (elevator) goes down (or up) all the air in it also goes that way so anything suspended in that air moves with that air.

Air acts more like a liquid to a fly.
If you have a fish bowl and moved it up and down (slowly).
The fish won't move much either.

No! it remains in the same place because it does not know it is in a elevator and whether it is going up or down.
Does anything happen like this to you????????????
