How long should you work before you get a pay raise? I work 40hrs a week at $9 and hour. I have been working here for 10 months. Is it too soon to ask for a raise? and how much should I ask for? I am constantly being told what a great worker I am, what an asset I am, and how smart I am. What do you think?

In addition for asking for a raise, ask for additional responsibility. Ask for a path forward, what skills you need to demonstrate in order to move up the chain and earn more money. Then, when you have demonstrated the skills your boss will lay out, you can ask again for increases in pay - and your boss can look to concrete things to justify it.

You should of asked for a review after 90 days. Of course each situation is different, but it is time to ask for a raise and $1 an hour doesn't seem out of the question.

I was dealing with this recently. In most cases, a full time job will deserve a raise after your 1 year evaluation. As far as how much you should ask for...ask for what you believe you deserve. Keep in mind, though, the average raise is 3%. Seriously. Good luck!

Every company has different way of approaching this issue. I would suggest that you ask some of your coworkers who have been with the company for awhile. You need not discuss your hourly wage with the coworker as they may be making less. If you still don't have a good answer from the coworkers you can talk to your supervisor. But you should be assertive without being aggressive. They may think you are happy with your present wage. Good Luck

raises are usually given once a year. Wait till your year is up. Depending on your job and title raises vary. At my store for anyone less then me their raise varies on perfomance (.10cents- .25cents for the raise) and for my job title its up to .50 cents. Anything more might be unreasonable depending on the type of work you do.

I knew a girl once in Paducah- she worked for me for ONE HOUR and got a 100% pay raise.

Depends on the kind of job you do, your skills, and so on.
