I wanted to get an honest answer, and i dont mean to offend/sound racist
i know the main reason for racism is ignorance and while i am not racist, my ignorance might make me sound that way

ill admit I do have a small fear ive realized ive had for a long time, as a white person, (though 1/4 spanish 1/4 italian) i have a slight fear of hispanics, i know there are many of you who are really good people, i believe that sincerly, and when i was young i never had this fear, it never came until later on in my life, when i had some bad experiences with hispanic gang members..

my question is, in general, do hispanics look down upon the white people? i know they've dealt with alot of racist crap from people, but because of that are we all hated for it? do i have reason to fear as much as i do? i want more than anything to be able to be right on their level, but i feel even when i try to be friendly, somehow as a white person i'm looked down upon... is it just me?
i apologize if i offend

It is a very good question. As a latino I am not offended by your question. It makes me glad that you are reaching out for some sort of solution. I think you have to stop thinking in terms of nationality or race and start thinking of them as human beings such as yourself. Not all latinos look down on the white race. Please understand that you, I, and them are all individuals with our own opinions and these opinions aren't necessarily a reflection of race.

I am Puertorican and I have had bad experiences with people of different races. I was married to a white man who was a jerk, that doesn't mean I hate all white people. My boyfriend is British and as you can guess, he is also white. I love him with all my heart. You say you fear them because of gangs?!?

Were you involved in gangs or what?!? As far as I know, gangs don't do anything to anyone unless provoked. Were you in a rival gang?!? I have never been in a stupid gang so I wouldn't come after you. I come from a good decent family. A lot of Hispanics are hard working people.

There are lots of good Hispanic people out there. You can't blame the entire race for whatever happened to you, just like I can't and won't blame whites or blacks for the hell ONE or TWO people put me through. Hispanics do not look down upon the whites or anyone else for that matter.

I have put up with enough prejudice and stereotype in my life. You should have a chat with a Hispanic person and get to know the person. You will find out how great we are. There are many people of all races who can be nice or who can be evil. Don't be pointing the finger at one race alone cause that is not fair.

This country went through hell on september 11th, 2001. Middle Easterns were to blame for this. We can't blame the entire race because of what ONE group did to the USA. I know Middle Eastern people who are actually nice. Another thing is that there are gangs in all races not just ours.

So don't judge! We are all humans and we all make mistakes. Do you SEE my point? Have a blessed day!

I'm Hispanic and let me tell you, you are right about being afraid of those gangsters. Those people are the left over sh*t of our countries. I would never trust those people. Be sure that nobody looks down on you since in our countries racism it's extremely lower than in the U.S. (no offense). Sometimes people with low education look up to European ancestry people for help. Let me give you an example:

Where I come from (Guatemala) there is a region where the state law prohibits Mayan people from teaching in schools, only Ladino (2/3 european 1/3 mayan) can teach or full Europeans.

See what I'm saying? Some of those people probably do hate you because you're white since they have this bitterness against Americans but please, PLEASE don't think of all Hispanics like that. I have an education and I don't look down on anybody. Don't be afraid to contact me if you have anymore questions.

Im hispanic and I'll tell yout his right now: everyone is different. Yes there is hispanics that are rascist, but African Americans and caucasians are too. So are asian, etc. Do you get my point?? The blacks and hispanics just (i mean some not all) look down at white people because of how they treated them like 100 or so years ago but they have to see those people are dead and not all white people hate them. The people that treated their ancestors like that are long gone. I'm not a rascist, we are all the same, aren't we??

Listen, homes. Jou keep talkin' dat wey- jou gonna get dealt by me and my chicas! Okay, no, not really. I am, in fact, half Mexican by the way. I don't believe Hispanics in general look down on white people. Now, if you're talking about ignorant or racist Hispanics, well then, maybe yes. Racists and ignorant people come in all colors of the rainbow, my friend. Try not to look at them as "them".Try looking at "them" as "we or us". When you put people in a category and give them labels, stereotypes come into play; consequently, you cheat yourself from an opportunity to learn that many Hispanic people out there would like to get to know you- despite your white skin. Sheesh! At least you came forward and sought out opinions.

Well with your experience I could understand why you are a little scared, anyone would be, no matter of the race. I am full blooded Mexican, but born in California and consider myself a American. I had problems with Mexican gangs and I am Mexican!! but I didn't dress, talk, act like them so they didnt' like me. There are all different types of gangs, and if you notice they are more scared & weaker then you and I are, because they can't fend for themselves, they need to be backed up by other people, they are pathetic. They just need to pick on other people because unlike you, they are very ignorant about anything different then them.

We proboably do that becuase most white, (no offense i'm 1/2), people look down on us Hispanics and treat us bad. For example white ppl (sum) feel as if they cant trust (sum) Hispanics. I'm sorry i got the best of both worlds.

You are entirely justified for being afraid of the gang members that scared you. However, you must realize that all races are human, good and bad in every bunch. Learn to look at everyone as human first, perhaps this will help them see you this way instead of the racist image their culture might portray you as.

Ignorance is the key word here. Racism is an individual mind set not race. Gangs can be associated to most races but ignorance can be associated to all races. We are all human and all equal. I am hispanic and proud of it just as everyone should be proud of their race but not arrogant.
