You don't really have an accent when you sing if you speak English no matter what dialect it is (Does Kylie Minogue sound Australian?)

There's a Mad TV skit about Ozzie Osbourne recording s song in a sound studio. When lunch came around an intern took lunch orders, but he could not understand Ozzie, so they asked him to sing his lunch order. Freakin' hilarious! But I guess you had to be there.

By the way it is possible to sing in an accent, have you ever heard a Russian metal band trying to cover American songs?

They don't have time in the song to sing with an accent.

I've never noticed that before. Can you give an example?
If I go out on a limb, I'd say its because they speak a similar language to ours and don't have time to do the accent while thier singing.

no longer even making a song...in case you have ever seen a action picture with isla fisher (Confessions of a shopaholic, wedding ceremony crashers , warm rod etc...) she sounds like an American yet once you ever hear her talking in a interview (David Letterman or advertising a action picture) she has the style of heavy Australian accessory its so unusual.

Good question! I've always wondered about this too. Like you can never tell until you hear them TALK, then you're like "WHOAAA I didn't know he sounds like that!!"

I think when you sing, you have to try to enunciate EVERY word so when you do that, you tend to lose accents? When English ppl talk, it doesn't sound like they open their mouth big enough to vocalize the whole word. Like "war" becomes "wor" - well, whatever, you know what I mean. :P

i thinks its because when you sing, you are using the same parts of your body as everyone else who sings, and you lose your accent
