Maybe it is overheating. Try dusting off the inside of the computer, or putting some fans around it. It also could be some malevolent software, so install software like Spybot and Ad-aware to remove it, it it is there.

There are several different things that can be causing this problem. It may be a problem with you internet browser. Do you have I.E. 6.0? See if some other browser can solve this problem. You can download many different browsers and use them simultaneously. Try FireFox, NetScape, or Opera. It may not be a problem with the browser. It may be a problem with your CPU usage. Check to see if there are a lot of start up programs that are clogging up your CPU. To do this, you may want to go to www.windowsstartup.com and download the free software. It will tell you what the different programs are that run on the start up of your computer and whether or not they are recommended. Finally, try defragmenting your computer.

If no virus, spyware, or fan problem--

If you've had the computer for a couple of years, just spend $50-70, take it to a computer place and have them;

1. backup your data
2 reinstall the operating system

I had this done about a month ago and it has decreased my cussing by about 98%. Microsoft operating systems just get corrupted after a time.

What kind of computer & its operating system?
How long is the computer on before freezing?
How long do you wait to turn it back on and what happens?
Is there ever any error messages?
Does everything seem to work ok when it is on?
What do you mean by 'freezing up'? still stuff on the screen but no response or computer seems to turn off?
