Unfortunately, if your fiancee was convicted or pled guilty to the crimes he was charged with they will be on his criminal record forever. Crimes should not affect the ability to purchase a home. That is a credit matter. However, potential employers who do background checks may be wary of his past. Only time will serve to help him in that particular.

He could, but as long as he perseveres he should have no problem finding a good job. My dad had those same problems. He was 20, had been found with drugs, had me, no wife or girlfriend, dropped out of high school in 10th grade when he was 15, the whole works. Now he makes $90,000 a year.

Yes, but you'll need an attorney. You can apply to the court to have his charges reduced or expunged, but it's a serious matter. Courts will not eliminate criminal records just because they were asked to do so. You need to present a very compelling argument.

It's not that easy people! If it was so easy, no one would have a criminal record. There has to be compelling reason to expunge a record. The easiest way to get a clean record: don't commit crimes.

the guy deserves a break-seems to me he has found a better life. in the uk you are given an amount of time after your convictions-this is when your convictions are considered "spent"-this is to say nobody can hold your convictions against you. if your fiancee has stayed out of trouble for the requisite amount of time he can appeal to the cheif constable of the local police authority to have his record cleared. (if your fiancee was convicted of offences involving sex/violence it may take longer to clear his record) if not then get in contact with the local police cheif and see what he can do. best of luck to the both of you for the future.

If he was a minor at the time, his record could be kept confidential. Call Legal Aid for more info.

Girl, find a new man. You don't do life with someone who can't even get a good job. I know many people who did drugs when they were young and they are doing very well now. Not all jobs do background checks. He is using this as an excuse.

Depending on the state he can pay a small fee to get his record expunged. (Meaning they will clear it)
