I'm an administrative assistant for a small physician office in a hospital. I have been working here for 9 months with a salary of 29K, I do ALL the office administration. Credentialing, profit & loss, filing, letters, I even do other chores like going to office max, costco, and even make personal deposits for the physicians buy chocolates for their wifes, flowers, I even change a pager system from my house at 6:00 a.m.
If I get a pay increase, how much should it be?

If you worked for me it would be a lot more.
Very hard to find good workers.
The ones I do find I pay them well so they don't leave.

Right now you're making an average of 14 an hour. And although I don't know what area you're in it makes a BIIG difference on what you'll be making. You can ask for an immediate raise any time you get a significant increase in duties or responsibilities. So if you started out doing all this stuff they might or might not (depending on their own policies) even have to give you a raise. My job gives out raises only every 12 months and I do basically everything in this place but I'm only making about 30k a year Gross (about 24k take-home....) but when I suddenly took on duties of someone who was no longer working with us I made sure to put in a notice that I needed to be paid more. And it was taken seriously.
The most you can really expect out of a raise unless you've been seriously wronged and they should've been paying you for all the extra work or they really want and like you is approximately a .50-1.50 raise. This means that instead of 29k you should be expecting somewhere in between 30k and 32k. If you're lucky they'll feel really bad and give you a big fatty raise though and maybe you'll be able to get 35k outta em
P.S. Par shooter where in the world do you work because I seriously need a new job HAHA

I wouldn't expect a pay increase until the one year mark, but you should expect your pay increase to be consistent within the company. Usually an employee handbook includes some structure for pay increases and employee reviews.
If you are unsatisfied with your pay, then look on Monster.com for what similar people are earning in your area, examine your job description, and approach your manager.
Working in a small office, it can be tough to ask for a raise. It is a serious thing to ask for, and should not be asked lightly. But, if you are unsatisfied, you should ask nonetheless.

I have a job very close in scope and only make 24g. I also have a B.A. and prior experience in the field. Depending on where you live, you may have a good salary. (I live in an Atlanta suburb and made an equivalent amount when I lived in NE OH).
Admin work is a sucky field to get into, and it's like quicksand...really hard to get out of alive.

what is the average of other admin assistants. To find that out go to www.salary.com I looked and saw I was a good 1.50 short from others in my area for my job (retail manager) went and asked and just put out my good points, what I knew, what I have done, etc. Also gave them a chance to give me any pointers. Basically like my review but off cycle.

I'd go for $1-1.50 per hour. It depends on the cost of living where you are too. I live in CO but I make under $10 at my administrative job (I do scheduling, filing, records upkeep, errands, receptionist duties, memos, etc). That would give you around $180-225.00 extra per month.

It sounds to me like your his personal assistant and office manager. Office managers should be making around 40k, and personal assistants probably around 25k.
I would say you are way underpaid. I would ask for at least 35.

You really should be making close to $35K annually, for all the extra things you are doing, they are lucky to have an employee like you.

You should think of a way to make money on your own. 29k is a joke for someone who is as dedicated as you are.

First, you need to learn how to say "no."
Second, they are taking advantage of you, even if they give you a pay increase.
Third, at this rate, you will suffer from burn out, no matter what you are being paid.

Sounds like you are doing OK for only being there nine months. Any pay increase would be good.
