no i think its easier being in high school myself...its WAY more excepted than it was years ago. More and more teens are coming out and this new generation is more accepting and im truly greatful. I've come out to most of all my friends and they were either gay or really comfortable with it. Its kinda a trend (says sarcastically) once u look at it. Im lesbian and havent told my mom simply because she is from a totally different generation and views it differently. To tell you the truth...i dont know IF i want to tell her...from the prediction of how she might take it or act. But I would say..its totally easier than it was years back!

Naw, i see them all the time flaunting the gayness. Most teen dont seem to care about that stuff. Even the football players hangout with gays nowadays.

But of course, it all depends on where you go to school. In GW Bush country I can only imagine that gays are persecuted still because of the Bible people there.

Its funny how these people who beat up the gays for doing something that God hates are the same people how practice adultery and fornication. Which God also hates.

Funny how their own sins dont count or shouldn't get them a beat down.

Hypocrites.

I think it is easier. I have two younger brothers, whom are both almost young enough to be my children, and they are in HS now. They have friends who are gay and bi and are totally accepting of them. That just didn't happen, even 10 years ago. The younger generation is more open-minded and accepting than any generation before them. Something is going right for a change!

I went to an all male military boarding school in the sixties.
There were gays but nobody was out.
If anybody was in the least suspected of "queerness" he would be pilloried.
Compared with that the schools my children have attended were absolute paradise.

I dunno! I graduated from hs 30+ years ago. Back then, I thought I was the only gay in town. It was a cowboy town in the midwest.

There are more resources available now for G and L's to seek for support. Internet has openned the world a lot more and has allowed more open and honest dialogue than before.

Years ago, most people never came out in high school. People might have suspected someone was gay but rarely would they say it outright. It might have been insinuated but rarely. To even come close to coming out would have been akin to social suicide.

Now, as adults, most people are actually shocked when they realize someone they went to high school with is gay. I don't even remember anyone using the term gay in high school.

If someone came out years ago, especially a boy while he was in high school, it would have been disastrous for him.

having gone to high schools in both california and tennessee, i can say that without a doubt it depends on where you live. no one cared at all in california. it's no big deal there. individual people react differently, but the overall sense is "so what?" In tennessee, however, time has not moved. from what i know of how it used to be, i'd say things have hardly improved. after i moved there, i entered the only closet i have ever known, and i HATED it.

I think High School is easy presently but, back then, if you told someone your gay, you would be sitting on the flagpole!
