joe, flo and moe all get the same meal. in total it costs thirty pounds, so they each pay ten pounds. when the manager sees the bill he realises that the customers have been overcharged by five pounds. he sends the waiter over to return the five pounds but he takes two pounds of it and returns three pounds to the customers. in total they have now payed nine pounds each.
now 3x9=27 + £2 that the waiter took = £29 where is the extra pound to make thirty????????

You don't need to make £30, the meal cost £25 and the waiter took £2, so they paid £27 which is £9 each.

A pays 10
B pays 10
C pay 10

Each get back 1

A, B, & C now paid 9 each.

That's a total of 27.

Deduct (DO NOT ADD) the 2 that the waiter keeps, leaves 25.

The waiter has 2, and A, B, C have 1 each (3 in total).

25 + 2 + 3 = 30.

The waiter only took 2 pounds the real bill being 25 pounds

So the three customers have payed 9 1/3 pounds each 'cause they payed 8 1/3 pounds each to make the real bill of 25 pounds.

The equation is not relevant to what actually happened.

30/3=10
30 - 5 = 25
25 + 3 + 2 = 30
