At some point, the GOP abandoned true conservatism - the position that the role of government should be limited in scope and that taxpayer dollars should be spent responsibly. They've plunged into a view that the goverment's role is to funnel taxpayer money to influential donors to the GOP through no-bid contracts.

Look at the money spent in Iraq without result, or even reliable accounting for the money spent, vs. the money not spent on Katrina rebuilding and relief.

The GOP is trying to pretend that it isn't in charge, and hasn't been for years, and that they're not responsible for what has happened on their watch - they're trying to remain an underdog party, even while in power. They ignore domestic issues and run to 9-11 to excuse everything they do, which is a shameful exploitation of the people who died on that day.

Air travel is little safer, the middle class is watching its paychecks shrink while the economy rises for a select few, and despite the grandiose promises, New Orleans rebuilding isn't even begun. The GOP has become an empty party built on unfulfilled promises made for photo ops. Lincoln is surely rolling in his grave.

They have not opened a second military front, for police action.

A important part of processing soldiers is to give them a post combat assignment. Typically a police action would be best.

Before you get excited about this answer Let me say I am a X USMC combat soldier. I have been there I have seen many soldiers put on the cloak of murder.

The same issues that the democrats and liberals and independants will fail to address.....The people...... They are just interested in bashing each other and smut campaigning instead of real issues, they all want to fatten their bellies and there pockets but dont care about the real people, the everyday people not the fake people....All you hear is hate this administration or that administration, but no one ever wants to work together as a whole, we can never better ourselves with a government that bickers with themselves and not true debating or understanding or better yet, compromising.....

Managing the budget, especially the control of pork. Balancing the needs of business against the needs of citizens. Controlling the southern border. Bringing some honesty back into politics.

My solution is to quit looking at parties and start looking at performance. The current Congress is a failure, so we should defeat every one of them who is running for re-election this year. If the next Congress fails to do the job, fire them, too, and keep it until we get a Congress that can manage the nation properly.

Fire Congress this year. The only alternative is to keep doing the same thing and hoping for a different result.

terror: a focus on Iraq and not bin Laden...

education: cutting funds and implementing programs (like NCLB) with no funding, which means they have to divert funding to fund the programs... tuition has increased a huge amount as well...

health care: insurance has increased by a huge amount, but "there's nothing to see here" attitude...

poverty: again a "they're just lazy" and "there's nothing to see here"... apparently there's a growing number of "lazy" people.. yeah, that's the problem...

and of course the whole "not being fiscally conservative in any way" issues

Border security is a failure on the part of both parties. The soft-gloved approach with regards to the war on terror is also a failure. He should allow our military to take the gloves off so we can get things done the right way.

Why have they not found ObL?
Why are there so many illegal immigtants who have more gov't benefits than I do?
Why is NCLB still a mess?
What are they going to do about the multi-trillion dollar debt?
And where the hell is ObL?
