Its true. My mom won't let me wear flip flops to school. She says flips aren't "supportive for my feet" and they look tacky. She also says someone can cause permanent damage to my foot if they step on it.
I am almost 16, a sophomore in highschool, and I want to wear flip flops just like everyone else. I've already proposed the idea of maybe only wearing them once in a while, and she flatly refused. How can I make her think on my same level and change her mind?

first of all, your mom is a little weird for not letting you wear flip flops. i wear them all the time and i feel great. i don't have any problems with my feet..or any pain. i do choose to wear havaianas. they are really comfortable. also, you might suggest to your mom that dr. scholls' makes flip flops or opened toed shoes. tell her that if dr. scholls's makes flip flops then it should be okay for you to wear them. also, tell her that BILLIONS of people wear them everyday...and you don't see anyone with problems.

What does the school dress code say about flip flops, if it says they are ok, show it to your mom. I happen to agree with your mom though They are tacky and only the slackers wear them, not everybody. If the school policy says flip flops are not appropriate then you should follow your moms wishes and not be a sheep and follow everyone else.
Either way you are saying your just a sheep that does what others do because you have no mind of your own.

You cannot make her change her mind, or you should not try. Mom is right. Flip flops are for wearing in and out of a shower. That's it.
Just because someone else does something foolish, you should not feel you have to go along.
What if the new fad is: "Stick a flaming torch up your rear end. It feels good." Would you do it? I don't think so.
Give your mom some credit for looking out for you and your well being.

Well, she's correct about the fact that they aren't supportive. If she says no, and continues refusing you really have no choice. Try finding some more supportive flip flops...like a sporty nike flip flop. And see if she'd let you wear those; some of them look pretty cute. Hope everything works out!

Sorry dear but you wont get any sympathy from me on this one. Flip flops arent made for going to school. I agree with your Mom. I saw a picture once of kids at the White House with the president and all of them were wearing flip flops. Very tacky!!!!!!!

Today I am wearin flip flop to school. I in freshman. My mom didn't said nothin that I wear flip flop to school. Only A day i wear flip flop. On B Day I wear shoes.

Ok... This is my idea.
Go to the store and buy flipflops, put them in your backpack, wear regular shoes on your way to school, but when your there you switch to flipflops! Then, when school is over, just switch back and your mom will never know. If she finds them, so what, just go buy more lol.
Your mother is totally overreacting about this flip flop thing. In a retarded case like this, i believe it will be ok if you wear flip flops without her knowing.

Well, flip flops aren't even allowed in school at my kids school. Too bad because they are SOOOOOO cute. You know the women's soccer or volleyball team or something all wore flip flops to the White House. The president's daughters wears flip flops.

why would u want to wear flip flops??they are soo last season. if you REALLY care about flip flops, wear sneakers out the house and then when you're out, hide you sneakers behind a bush and change your shoes.
instead of flip flops, wear FLATS. they are pretty supportive and they are soo cute. espiceally the metallic gold, sliver or bronze 1s. you can match them with almost ANYTHING unlike flip flops

There's nothing wrong with flip-flops. Do some research on the net, to prove her wrong. Then present her with said info, and discuss it with her... and if that fails buy some with your own money and stash them in you backpack, and change into them when you get to school.
