England conquered Wales and though a Scottish King joined England and Scotland together before that there had been many battles between the English and the Scots (one English King was called the Hammer of the Scots) and soon the Scots were treated very badly by the English again (look up Colloden and Highland clearances). So nobody likes the English much (as a historical nation rather than as individuals) and so they return the feelings.
Actually most people don't dislike people because of their race but the above gives them an excuse if they want to.

Personally, I have found that English people are very accepting, in the majority, of people from other areas of the UK. There is a slight resentment from the Welsh towards the English, but the real problem seems to be the Scottish against the English. A good many of them seem to hate the English. I think it has stuff to do with what has gone on in the past, but nowadays, I think the hatred is kept going because England are better at football than Scotland. They hate the English national team doing well. Personally, I think the rivalry is very bizarre, and I have never met an English person who hates the Scottish or Welsh, like the Scottish hate the English.

Most modern day English people dont have any problems with the Welsh or Scottish and visa versa as far as i know.
It more than likely stems from England trying to conquer everywhere hundreds of years ago. I think we kinda pissed a few people off lol.
Im English and if i had to pick a group of people i didnt like i would say it would be the MP's and everyone in the Labour government. Not the Welsh or Scottish.

Its history!
The Scots and English were always fighting! Henry Vllls army killed the Scots king and we took lots of stuff that was not rightly ours to take. That hurt the Scots and was unfair.
James 1st became the first King of both country's we were bitter enemies and killed each others people before that.
The Welsh hate the English because they think we look down on them and hate their laungage. I think Wales is lovely and a place to be proud of!
The English Hate people who are rude to them and who push in Ques! (lines) and people who don t read history books and think the 'Braveheart' movie had any basis in truth!
The English and French also hate each other because of the many wars we had with them too.

Thats rubbish. I'm a Scot born of Scottish and Welsh parents and living in England. I have never been aware of any bigotry, in fact people tend to be friendlier to me when they hear my accent. Its like an old wives tale!!!

Speak for yourself - The Welsh are great, very welcoming & open when I stayed there, the Scottish are a good laugh too. So I cannot share that opinion.

erm....the uk is like a mini- continent...all the countries have their own parliament linked by the main parliament in london. scots dont like the english coz they are country stealin bums who wont let us be independant and who have a verse in their national anthem about bashing the scots!
cant speak for the english and the welsh....the welsh seem to have been almost englishified, they dont seem to kick up as much of a fuss as the scots do.
