Even big celebrities are average Jane's and Joe's in the picture you're describing! How many famous people have come and gone over the millennium?..and what have they REALLY done in the universe? So you and I? All of humanity?...So many of us, now and in the past and the future? So many...that if you stand far back from the Earth, we are no larger than viruses on a baseball? What does it matter at all?...It just ...doesn't?
Do you enjoy doing stuff? Do you get happy and feel great sometimes?
So...The point to living must be to just enjoy, rejoice, suffer, get pissed off, mourn losses, have a blast, breathe in, breathe out and lastly.... to die.
So, think you can you do it? Can you love living and succeeding and yet... At the same time, just allow it to mean absolutely nothing?
Crazy as it sounds...you HAVE to.
That's what I do...and let me tell you, most of the time, I feel very, very content being not so significant in this massive world.
Enjoy this place.

Really, I know all about MY great grandparents and the things they accomplished, and my nephews and nieces know all about what I have accomplished, I have had photos and stories published that will last way beyond my final days and I have touched the lives of those around me which has made a difference in everything they do ... so, if you dont have a sense of purpose and look at how you effect others, that's just sad ... enjoying the here and now with friends and family is what life is all about ... get out / do something!

The point of living is to enjoy your life while you have the opportunity. Many generations may not remember you, but the immediate ones in your life - you have a major impact on them. They would miss you if you were not here. You help make their lives full as well, the same as they do for yours.

If you don't see a point in living, maybe you need to go talk to someone and help with that depression. That's not a good way to live.

Well
Here is my Opinion From ISLAMIC Religion so really People can Know what this Religion is The Greatest Nowadays
......

In Islam we believe The Point Of Living

God( Allah) Created us for a Reason, Not Just to complete specific Numbers
He Created us and he Put us in life into test to see how we going react and what we going chose

And That is True you can be forgotten,,But Your Good dead will never be forgotten,,,Because we human is by what we do and what we have done,

You don't have to be remebered, as long as you live your life to the fullest, people will notice, and some will remember and pass it on. The ones who love you will remember you, and even in death, they will love you.

And the point of living: living your life to the fullest and making yourself the person you want to be, meeting new people that might be in your life forever, or for just a minute, and it doesn't matter if no one remembers that you exist. What matters is that YOU know.

The average Joe has the chance to be someone that is remembered forever and I think we are all given the chance to shine, its up to you to make of your life what you want others to remember you as when you are gone, so if you don't make the celebrity status I guess that is up to you.

What's the use in living when no one knew you were coming?
In my case, I belong to a family that traces itself back to 1150AD.
We have written records which I am keeping and I also keep a picture record, so not only will my descendants know about me but what I looked like and my writings....
Meanwhile I am having a ball... ;-)

If you live well, you will be remembered. That's what "life after death" is all about. Nobody is remembered forever (that's a really long time!!). But everybody is certainly remembered for 50 years. So don't sweat it!! Trust me!!!

What, do you want a statue erected in your honor? So nobody will forget how great you were?

Some of us enjoy the anonymity of being a productive member of society (or NOT). To be a bird and just watch the show.

I liked Jack Sauffu...'s answer.

You not only live for others, you live for yourself, to learn things and evolve. Glory, recognition or memories are not the main reason of our existence.
