Ook well:

The result I got was 1

This is how I got that result:

First the two lines | | means were looking for the 'absolute value' which is defined as "The scalar unit a number represents" if you got that. It means that "For whatever answer you get, it's always 'positive'" So if you get a negative answer you just take the negative sign away.

Second, Substitute the values into the equation that is bounded by the absolute brackets.

Solve the equation: so 5 - 2(-4) + (-12) = 5+8-12 = 1

Now we see this: | 1 |

And our result is 1.

Obviously this is part of a group of three Simultaneous Equations. In other words three equations with similar variables. So unless all three equations are present and accounted for solving this is impossible.

The only part of this equation that can be fixed is this.

X-2z+(-w) is the same as x-2z-w.

thats easy. you just plug in the numbers for the letters. |x-2z+(-w)| ... |5-2-4+(-12)|

5-2 + 48

it becomes 48 because you multiply the -12 by
-4

3+ 48

=51

x+y+2z -w=10 ...(a million) x-y-z+3w=-2...(2) -x+y-z+w=-6...(3) 3x+y-z+2w=9...(4) fixing,( sorry won't be able to variety... it really is two aspects lengthy on paper attempt making use of determinants too. Ans: x=4 y=a million z=2 w=-a million

Okey this may seem confusing but i no dis stuff so here we go...Since x=5, z=-4, and w=12

and your problem is (X-2z+(-w)

Pug in the numbers!!!

and wen a letter and a number is together (next to eachother) it multiply them.. hope that helps

Since you are asked to evaluate all you have to do is substitute the values you have been given for the letters in the equation.

The verical lines | | mean absolute value, that is, the distance from zero. So |3|= 3, and |-246|=246.

Now do your own work.

I x - 2z + (-w) I = x-2z-w
= 5 - 2*(-4) -12
= 5 + 8 - 12
= 1

hope this is correct ........

the answer is 1

you get that by following the order of operations, so you have to mutliply 2*Z(-8) which then equals negative 8. Then yuo have
5--8+(-12) so 5--8 is 13, +-12is 1.

!x-2z+(-w)!=!5-8+(-12)!
=!5-20!=!-15!=15
