Strangely, this became a topic of discussion in my abnormal psychology class. I said no because the porn actresses aren't forced into it and they get paid for it, some very well. They've made a decision to accept the social stigma that comes with their job. But I was quickly shouted down by my mostly female class.

Since this discussion occured in a psychology class, I'll put it in psychology here.

I have long held that porn does not degrade women. If you have a skill and you get paid for it, you are a professional. If I have a beautiful body and someone wants to pay me for pictures of it -- fab! Who is being exploited -- me, making my car payments and paying off my college loan, or the men who SPEND their money to obtain the pictures of me so they can masturbate while looking at a photo of a woman they will never meet? Porn exploits a man's need/weakness -- a smart woman can laugh all the way to the bank.

Hmm thats a good and interesting question. I think by being in porns, that women are automatically catergorizing themselves, as ''sluty'' and ''nasty'' etc. Some people are open with their sexuality but is that a good or bad thing? I personally, would never participate in such a thing but I also understand and respect your point of view on it too. I dont think it is a right or wrong matter and/or that porn would be degrading the women, the women would be degrading themselves. They know what they are getting into before they even do it. who knows? lol :)

I am female and I say it does not degrade them at all. Yes, they chose that profession and some get paid well. I would imagine that they knew what they were getting into when they started. I also think that prostitution should be legal. I don't find porn degrading at all, in fact, I have learned a couple of things from watching.......

I believe the only Way you can get the real answer to that is to go to the source. Of course it is to other woman because it paints a picture of woman being treated like meat. The men don't have that problem because there pictured as the masters of the woman in most of the films.

I think it does, but not just porn, there are xyience sport drink commercials that highlight male athletes, but the girl in the commercials is doing a major booty call, why can't they illuminate female athletes, you know the saying sex sells, well it's more accurate to say 'female curves sell'

I say it degrades the women who are in them. No one's holding a gun to their head. LOL Chicky wants people to know she does porn. But you don't have to look good to be in porn. I've seen porn w/some dog *** ugly jiggly women. I doubt Chicky is any Jenna Jameson!!!

I would say publicly showing your body in the most vulgar and obscene ways just for money is pretty self-degrading!! Can't these women make an effort and try medical work? Teaching? Biology? Something USEFUL???

I agree with you. While it's not a profession I would elect, I say to each his or her own...It doesn't degrade the actresses as much as it degrades people who watch that trash....My humble opinion...
