There are other places in the house you can move some of your plants to. You could have some in the dining room, living room, kitchen, sleeping quarters and even the bathroom. Maybe spreading the plants out will help the place to look less cluttered.

Maybe you can share some of your plants with your neighbors or the local homeless shelter. The plants may give the residents a little pick me up and they can take care of the plants as well.

I like the jungly look but it does make a room look less spacious.
You could remove one at a time and look at the effect until it looks right and also try having a plant on the floor and one at table height and a further on a higher shelf. This can maintain a slight jungle look without a cluttered look..try rearranging until it is pleasing to you. Make sure the greens blend well too, as well as the leaf shapes..

If you have a large living room with a corner that has nothing in it,why not put a group of plants together, tallest at the back and then some small ones at the front then your room would not look cluttered.

I do'nt think you can ever have too many plants, i live in a jungle too!!. I put alot of them outside in the summer which they seem to love but as soon as it starts to get cold they all come in again and the indoor jungle is back!.
Besides, plants always grow better when they are all crammed together, they create their own humidity which
helps prevent them drying out when the heatings on.

I'm one of those people who believes you can't have too many plants. I love plants and I'm the happiest around them. I have plants for years and I love seeing them grow and look healthy.
Off course you need to have a balance.

My belief that you can't have to many plants is because more often than not the balance is not in the favour of plants so more often there are not enough plants in our livings areas. Think of how much more pleasant work places would be if they hab a good amount of healthy plants around the workers. I would love it!

Maybe it looks cluttered because you have lots of small plants. If you had, say 3 large plants instead, with different types of leaves, it would still look nice and green and jungly, but it wouldn't be cluttered with zillions of different pots, and they would be much quicker to water.

You have answered your own question.

However, one thing to consider is not so much the number of plants but their height. If they are all of the same height (say 1.5 ft high in a 8 ft high room), then their effect will be more orderly and consequently less overwhelming.

Cheese plants especially can look horrible with all those long dangly bits. Indoor plants can look good if they are well maintained and not too intrusive. Umbrella plants and indoor figs can look goood if you water them regularly and prune them when they start to loo a bit spindly and overgrown. If you have the budget, fresh cut flowers in a vase can look better.
