I know you only asked for 1 song but I feel there are a lot of UK songs that should be mentioned here. Some of them are:

"Love Is Love" by Boy George

"A View To A Kill", "The Reflex" by Duran Duran

"Gold", "True" by Spandau Ballet

"Everytime You Go Away" by Paul Young

"Breakout" and "Am I The Same Girl" and "You On My Mind" By Swing Out Sister"

"Careless Whispers", "Freedom", "If You Were There" by Wham

"Wannabe" and "2 Become 1" by Spice Girls

DO THEY KNOW IT'S CHRISTMAS by Band Aid

Band Aid was a British and Irish charity supergroup, founded in 1984 by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure in order to raise money for famine relief in Ethiopia by releasing the record "Do They Know It's Christmas?" for the Christmas market. The single surpassed the hopes of the producers to become the Christmas number one on that release. Two subsequent re-recordings of the song to raise further money for charity also topped the charts. The original was produced by Trevor Horn.

Blue Monday by New Order. It still holds the record for the highest selling 12" in history so it has done something right.

Almost anything by Sting and the Police. I love "Everything She Does Is Magic" because it describes one of my novels I'm planning to write soon (if the novel is adapted to film, the song can be on the soundtrack...heh heh).

"Deiche" by Sex Gang Children is my favorite mostly instrumental song ever. The studio version since, according to Andi, they never perform it the same ever.

"Strangelove" by Depeche Mode gets my second vote.
