Depending on where you live, you may never get rid of them! If you live in a single family house, an exterminator will do the trick IF you properly empty your cupboards and move all furniture away from the edges of the wall. They need to spray in every nook and cranny!! Put all of your dishes a table and cover everything with sheets to protect from the spray they use. If you live in an apartment....FORGET IT! you may follow the guidelines, but if your neighbors don't they will travel back to your apartment from theirs! Otherwise, move to a colder state.....like Minnesota or Wisconsin. If you have cockroaches there, it is because you live in a pig sty!

Get a pet. I haven't had a mouse in my house for four years, since getting a cat. They love eating spiders too, or mine do anyway. and come to think of it, I haven't seen a cockroach yet either. I would also suggest keeping the house clean, and emptying the bin on a regular basis so that there's no food around for them to eat.

Bug bombs help to rid the home of a variety of insects, but if you live in a heavily populated area, it will be almost impossible to get rid of them completely. But bombing should give some relief for 4 to 6 months.

1- You locate their nest or their access point to your territory.
2- you spray these sources with Bayer (Baygon) cockroache killer. It will not kill them but they will be disabled for some time.
3- You locate the nest (it is made with chewed mud, and looks like a termites house).
4- you spray it with alcohol (90 degrees)- not too much just to impregnate it... and you put fire to it.
5- then it will crumble with the eggs inside.
6- Clean the place from dead cockroaches and all the mess.

Try hiring pest control. When I lived in the South, pest control once a month was routine.
Also, try boric acid. It's cheap and non-toxic (to people). It'll kill roaches.
See also the website below.

if you live in an apartment, roaches will always be around unless your entire building is sprayed. The best thing is to bring an exterminator in regularly to continually spray your apt.
