c...diversions comes from the root divert which in essence means "to keep one's mind active." In this case, they have been freed from some sort of controlled environment, they are forced to keep their own minds active.
It can't be troubles because they wouldn't be forced to make trouble for themselves...it's not something they would want to do.
It can't be facts because, quite frankly, diversion does not mean facts.
It can't be friends. This one is somewat hard to explain, but i'll do my best. Both words are nouns, but friends are people and diversions are things, so clearly a thing cannot not be a thing and a person cannot not be a person.
This leaves amusements, the correct answer.
